I wanted to bring my prototype to life by demonstrating how it might function while actually taking pictures – so I decided to create a video! I had fun storyboarding, shooting and editing this. For the starring role, I enlisted top-tier talent: my dad.

Prototype Setup

The trickiest part in making this video was simulating the prototype’s viewfinder. To do this, we first took photos at potential filming locations, and I selected some to overlay in the viewfinder area. Then on filming day, we had to shoot the close-up shots in exactly the right spots to ensure the illusion worked. (If you look closely, you can still notice slight mismatches from shakiness, and lighting differences between when we shot the viewfinder photos and when we filmed.)
